How to Edit Contacts (and other records) In JibberJobber
How to Edit Contacts (and other records) In JibberJobber This post was written to help you edit a Contact record in JibberJobber. The steps are the same to edit Companies, Jobs, etc. Once you get a record into JibberJobber youll want to do a few things: Associate the record with other records. For example, if you meet three people at one target company, youll want to add the three people to your personal relationship manager (aka, JibberJobber), and youll want to associate them to the target company. Make notes and record log entries. If you called someone and had a good conversation, keep track of what you talked about. Youll love having those notes accessible to you a few months later, when you reconnect! We do this with Log Entries. Edit and update your contacts information. Perhaps you find out about an alternative email address, or you finally get the contacts phone number. Youll want to edit that data on the Contact record in JibberJobber. In this post Im going to focus on #3. My favorite way to edit a record is below, but first, the easiest, most obvious ways to get to the edit screen, once you have created the record: 1. From the List Panel you can edit from the edit icon on the right: 2. From the Detail Page, you see see the same icon on the bottom right: 3. My favorite way: from the Detail Page, MOUSE OVER any of the fields if they turn dark gray, you can DOUBLE CLICK on the field. Heres what the gray looks like, if I mouse over a field you can edit (see #1): When I double click on the gray box, it opens an edit box to edit just that field like this: In this situation, I see the box to put an email address in, as well as the drop down to let me designate what kind of email address it is. When you double click on a gray box it might be different, depending on what data you are trying to edit (birthday, referred by, etc.). Fill in the little form, click SAVE, and youve updated the record Easy! Lack Experience 3 Rules to Nail Your Phone Interview - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
Lack Experience 3 Rules to Nail Your Phone Interview - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Note: This post is for college freshman and sophomores who are looking to secure their first internship. Over the past week, Ive phone-interviewed 7 college students for the position of Social Media Intern at Minted Republic. Ive been so completely underwhelmed by the candidates that I decided to write a post to teach college undergraduates how to do well in a phone interview and give themselves a chance at securing a Summer internship. Before we get into my 3 rules of phone interviews, Id like to start off with the universal principle of internships. The Universal Principle of Internships Previous work experience does NOT matter. The company has labeled the position as an internship because the company is looking to teach you to do the tasks that they dont want to pay an experienced professional to do. Most likely, these tasks are very grunt-work heavy. What DOES matter is your attitude and eagerness to learn. A company wants to hear stories about how youve overcome obstacles, how youve stayed late at your previous minimum wage jobs to finish your work, and that youve taken leadership positions at student organizations in college. In summary, a company wants a go-getter who will soak up knowledge like a sponge and work super hard. And now lets get to my rules for phone interviews: Rule #1: Be different via a calendar invite and make the phone call I am super busy. I hate having to send a calendar invite, write down the name and phone number of the candidate, and make sure Im on time for my call because I always schedule the interview in-between business meetings. Admittedly, Ive forgotten to call a candidate for a phone interview because I simply got busy. Important: this one rule could be the X-factor for getting you the internship over the other candidates Be different by showing the company that you are organized and are here to make life easier for them: Send out a calendar invite for the time of the phone interview so that you both have it on your calendars Ask the interviewer for his or her number so that you can make the call Send out an email 30 minutes before the interview as a reminder and with a link to your resume for easy review No other candidate will do this, making you stand out above the crowd. The interviewer will love you from the start because youve made life easier for him or her. Rule #2: Be the happiest person in the world People want to work with others that they like and enjoy spending time with. Because this is a phone interview, its impossible to get visual cues when you answer questions and tell stories. Its therefore very important that your voice sounds like youre the happiest person in the world and that youre very eager and excited to be speaking to the interviewer. When you answer questions and tell stories, talk about how much you loved your previous work experience because you learned valuable lessons at each one. This is important because an internship is meant to teach you skills that you do not currently have. The interviewer needs to know that youre a very fast learner and that you appreciate and value every skill that youve acquired. As an easy rule of thumb, smile throughout your entire phone interview itll make you sound happy. Rule #3: Become the prize You want to sound eager and excited, but not desperate. To achieve this balance, you need to become the prize. Say the following at the end of the interview: Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity. I am currently interviewing with 2 other companies and have already received an offer from 1. Ive let all the companies know that Im looking to make a decision by insert date here. What are the next steps and can we work together to make sure weve arrived at a decision by date? What this achieves: Shows that youre wanted and valuable because youre interviewing with other companies and have already received an offer Puts you in control because it makes the company have to work with your timeframe Now that you know how to interview over the phone, go out and do it! And please use these techniques on me ?? Author: Jun Loayza is the Co-Founder of RewardMe, a customer loyalty platform for restaurants and retailers. Advice To Help You Maintain A Proper Work-Health Relationship
Advice To Help You Maintain A Proper Work-Health Relationship Nowadays, people are faced with a lot of stress. There is always this need to work really hard. Because of this, many end up sacrificing their health. It is something that can be avoided but in many situations people do not actually figure this out until it is way too late. You need to be sure that you take your health into account. In order to achieve a proper balance between work and life, you do need three things: Know priorities Have proper time management Have proper drive to reach goals Besides these, others can be said. It is really important that you avoid the really common job burnout so that you have time for all activities. With this in mind, here are facts that you can always consider, tips that will help you. Refocus Priorities Every person has unique priorities. At work, there are people that focus on the benefits associated with doing the job properly. Many want to earn as much money as possible. This is a priority that nobody can dismiss. However, it automatically means that you stay much more time inside the office than you should. It is really important that you invest in your career or your job but if this is your only priority, you will be burned out. Make sure that you understand that and that you avoid that burnout. You Have To Love Your Career Is the career path you are on now one that you chose because you really love it or simply because it happened? This is a really important thing that you have to understand. Many say that this is just a cliché but at the end of the day, you have to remember that when you do things that you really love, it does not actually feel as if it is work. So many workers or employers hate the job and they treat it as an enemy. Since they do not enjoy the work, they end up complaining a lot. Stress automatically increases and this can lead towards a huge exhaustion. You need to find ways in which you would enjoy what you do. Respect The âMeâ Time It is incredibly important that you respect private time just as you respect the time of the co-workers and the clients you have at the moment. In the event that you do not allocate time for the family and for yourself, it is a guarantee that you will end up having problems. Giving yourself enough time to sleep, rest and even work out is valuable. That is necessary in order to focus on all the things that you do and become truly productive. Work Out That is definitely something that is highly important at the moment due to the fact that it will help you to start improving your focus, get in better physical and mental shape. You can so easily read health and fitness blogs, look for something that you can do and end up feeling so much better about your life than you are at the moment. Working out allows you to focus on the job better while realizing exactly what has to be done in order to reach that perfect balance that is a necessity in the life of every single successful career.

How Can Analytics Optimize Employee Workflows
How Can Analytics Optimize Employee Workflows Employee workflows are essential to the functionality of an organization. Yet, this is something that often gets forgotten, especially in businesses where itâs not such an obvious concern. Companies that boost efficiency on this front are going to be more productive, while also providing a better environment for their workers. Hereâs how analytics can help optimize employee workflows. Questions Can Get Answered No matter the workplace, there are always issues that need a resolution. In the past, business owners didnât always have the resources to effectively deal with these things. A pattern of trial and error was used until a reasonable solution presented itself. Itâs obvious why this isnât a great system. First, itâs incredibly inefficient, as getting anywhere requires lots of wasted time and resources. And ultimately, youâre not arriving at an ideal endpointâ"just one that works well enough. Having data-driven answers to outstanding questions makes everyoneâs life easier within an organization. It allows for maximal efficiency, while taking the guesswork out of the process. Thereâs also an important human element to this as well. Not having answers can weigh on the minds of employees. It can even create conflict when there are opposing factions that want to pursue different options. Analytics provides conclusive evidence for why certain actions will produce ideal outcomes. Reappoint Tasks Based on Greater Efficiency Workflow ergonomics is an extremely complex topic. The industrial revolution was a move by business owners trying to maximize operational efficiencyâ"at the cost of their workersâ wellbeing. Humans arenât machines and canât be expected to perform tasks perfectly. Data analytics, however, can help determine the best ways to appoint duties to create optimal employee workflows. Looking at hard evidence can show how tasks should be distributed, as well as which employees are best suited for them. Reduced Need for Back-and-Forth Many legacy BI systems are so slow and costly, they barely justify the cost-benefit from improvements. A huge part of this inefficiency comes from requiring dedicated teams of data analytics to process all queries. The thing is, not all questions are so complex that they should require an expertâs input. This ultimately comes down to old data systems being too complex for the layman user. Modern analytics tools like ThoughtSpot are completely changing this. Major shifts in usability, thanks to features like search analytics, are making insights accessible to more employees. Redesign Protocols for Less Internal Friction Every part of an organization can be broken down into a protocol. From the layout of a warehouse to how people submit deliverables, every procedure can be improved. Data can help with this. New technology makes data collection continuous and available for more applications. Manufacturing and logistics are two areas that are seeing the myriad benefits of this revolution. For instance, data collection devices can be installed at every point in a manufacturing process. This will constantly collect massive pools of information, helping executives see exactly where to search for improvement. Scheduling in the healthcare world isnât nearly efficient enough. However, organizations adopting data analytics tools are finding ways to vastly improve these internal protocols. Intuition Isnât Always Right in the Workplace One study conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit for PricewaterhouseCoopers found executives in 2014 were much more likely to make choices on intuition and experience than data. Two times as many executives reported using the first approach. Data is an opportunity for businesses to get ahead of the competition. Simply doing things because they seem like the right choice isnât effective. Even if the result works out, it wonât necessarily be the best possible course of action. Employee workflows shouldnât be managed by whims. They should be determined by facts. There are many organizational elements that can be improved by implementing an analytics-first approach. Employee workflows are a prime example of this principle in action.

5 Ways To Find Meaning And Purpose At Work
5 Ways To Find Meaning And Purpose At Work Photo Credit â" LinkedIn.comUnless you happen to be on welfare, receive social security checks, get a pension, or are independently wealthy you have to go to work. For most people, this means that they have to get a job to pay the bills. While a few people manage to figure out how to make a living as an entrepreneur, this is not an easy path, either. Most of the stories about a life of wealth, freedom, and adventure are mainly marketing stories to get people to join an MLM or a get-rich-quick scheme.Since you have to create a living from a job, you might as well find a way to find meaning and purpose. Yes, there are many benefits of having a job, like a steady paycheck, meeting new people, learning new skills, and developing a sense of identity, but, ultimately, the human spirit craves meaning and purpose. Without it, you feel empty, bored, listless.evalItâs true that many jobs treat their employees badly, with mean bosses consistently, unfair policies, favoritism, and low pay, but people are also unhappy even if they have a decent job with good salaries, numerous perks, and handsome benefits. The only reason they donât quit is because the alternative is even worse â" scrambling for food, shelter, and the basic necessities of life. The way to get out of feeling miserable in the working world is to create a sense of meaning and purpose with your current job. Assuming you have a job that isnât intolerable, how can you get some joy out of the 40 hours you spend there? Here are 5 suggestions on how to befriend your job:1. Respect your employerâs policiesThe way you respect your employer is by not doing things that could harm them. Beyond refraining from gossip, you should respect their policies. Your company will have many policies designed to protect the company and the people who work there. One policy that is easy to be careless about are policies around computer security. This is especially true in organizations that have a BOYD policyâ"bring your own dev ice. Since people prefer to use their own laptops and mobile devices, many companies let them use them at work. You can respect this policy by doing your best to keep any company-related data on your laptop secure. Some ways of doing this include using strong password protection for your logins, using secure USB flash drives to encrypt data on your computerâs hard drive in real-time, and using anti-virus software and firewall protection to protect against malware.2. Find a correlation between what you love to do and positions availableevalWhile you may not have found your dream job yet, it doesnât help to gripe about the shortcomings of your current job. Instead, try to see if there is any kind of correlation between what you love to do and what your company wants you to do.Take a strength inventory test to find out more about your personality type and the things that you do naturally well. Then see if there is a position in the company that would allow you to express your natura l aptitudes. When you do work that youâre naturally good at doing, then youâll begin to appreciate your job much more. In fact, it will be a channel for you to express inhibited aspects of your personality.3. Research the Founderâs storyAlmost every company has an interesting Founderâs story. By tapping into the discovering the struggles and challenges of the founder, youâll begin to have a larger appreciation for the role you are now playing in the company. Instead of seeing your job role as a waste of time, youâll be able to write yourself into the story.evalThe reason only a few people rise to the C-level of a corporation is because they discovered how to treat the company as if it were their own business. They have identified with the goals of the company. They donât feel alienated from the company, but an essential part of it. They donât feel like cogs in a machine, but like players in a fascinating game who have the power to make a difference.4. Stay away from g ossip-mongersIn almost every company, there are employees who are deeply dissatisfied. They are conflicted about everything â" their lives, their families, and their jobs. These people love to devour any gossip about any misfortune the company or its executives are experiencing and liberally spread the bad news. They get a rush from belittling or denigrating any executives or supervisors who have erred or fallen short They get animated by bad news because it deflects the pressure of dealing with their own personal problems. Stay away from these people at all costs. They will depress and dishearten you within minutes.5. Seek opportunities to learn and growMost progressive companies have career tracks for their more aspirational employees. This can range from paying for educational advancement to having an in-house program to fast-track people who appear interested in improving their knowledge and skills. Look into what programs your company offers. There may be a way of melding your s trengths with a career-growing educational program that the company either offers or sponsors.According to a Forbes article, most Americans are unhappy at work. Using these five tips, you might be able to buck the statistics.

Ten Job Seeker #Fails and How to Fix Them
Ten Job Seeker #Fails and How to Fix Them Here are ten sure fire ways to sabotage your job search and some quick fixes to keep you on track. You can also check out our free resume and job search e-books here.Inflate qualifications or lie on a resume. While a resume is not a legal document, it should be an accurate representation of your experience and achievements. I advocate for showing your employment history in the best possible light, but lying is never wise.Forget to proofread the resume. One of the easiest ways to show an employer you dont pay much attention to details is to submit a resume with a typo. Check, double-check, and triple check your document. Use spell check and ask a few different people to proof the resume before sending it to employers.Send the same generic cover letter to every employer. The cover letter is the perfect opportunity to make a connection with the employer and explain how you can help solve their problems. Dont go vanilla here. Tailor your cover letter to the employer and position y ou are applying to.Neglect to research the company before the interview. With so much information on the Internet there is no excuse for not knowing about the company you are interviewing with. Use Vault, Glassdoor, WetFeet, Jigsaw, and LinkedIn to unearth important information about the companies and people you are interviewing with and dont forget to take advantage of the research resources available at many public libraries.Ask everyone they know for a job. Unless you want your friends and colleagues to stop returning your calls, dont just ask everyone you know for a job. Instead ask for information about a company, a person, an industry, etc. Let your contacts know you value their knowledge and insights. Through these exploratory conversations they may be able to point you in the direction of a possible job opportunity even if they cant help you land that job directly.Neglect to send a thank you letter following an interview. Its not just a courtesy. It is an opportunity to make a second impression on the person you just interviewed with and remain top of mind. Send the thank you letter within 24 hours of the interview. A few paragraphs with a thank you and a recap of why you are the perfect match for the job can help keep you on the hiring managers short list.Fail to leverage their network. Some people feel that reaching out to their network for contacts means asking for favors. It doesnt. See #5.Snub social media. Imagine being able to go into the offices of everyone you know and look through their Roledex (remember them). Thats what social media sites like LinkedIn and Twitter allow you to do.Complain. Its easy to blame the company or the economy for your job search frustrations. But it wont get you a job any faster. Find a few close confidents you can vent to and dont spread your frustration to others. Keep a journal to help you chronicle your search journey and help get your feelings out.Give up. This is perhaps the most unsettling fail of all. And there are a lot of people out there that have given up. Unemployment benefits wont last forever. At some point you will have to get back in the game. If you have dropped out of the race for several months, getting back in is much harder. Keep at it. Plan job search activities every day. You will be scheduling meetings with friends and colleagues, doing Internet research, building your online network, working on your resume, practicing your elevator pitch, etc. There is a lot to do. Job search is a full-time job. Nows not the time to take a vacation.
